Come on people, can’t we all just get along?! Seriously, this has gone too far. I know what’s coming next because we’ve seen it all a million times. Something tragic occurs and the left side cries that we need stricter control on guns. The right side says that everyone of the members of the offending race/creed and religion are bad and should be watched, deported or worse. But, what if we met someplace in the middle? Can’t we be vigilant without blaming an entire race or religious group? On the other hand, we need to do something, but at this point, ANYTHING will offend someone and in 2016 we find ourselves in a position where someone is always offended by something and when they voice their opinion about being offended, those comments seem to offend someone else and the circle continues.
We must be tolerant of everyone and everything these days, but this tolerance goes both ways, or at least it should, right? When a member of a particular group commits a heinous act, they are all, unfortunately, judged by that act. Right, wrong or indifferent, it is the sad truth of the way things are in today’s society. It seems that we are all focused on finding someone to blame rather than contributing to a potential solution.
I don’t claim to have all the answers, hell, I don’t even know where to begin. But I do know that if we all truly practiced tolerance and truly understood that tolerance is a two-way street, then maybe, just maybe, we can work together to find a solution and begin healing. Together. I’m not an overly religious guy, but “do unto others…”
